Drug testing at the 2010 Hong Kong Bodybuilding Championship at 6 June 2010

HKADC noticed that there were misleading messages related to the drug tests performed at the captioned event. In order to prevent any possible misunderstandings to be further circulated thus possibly leading to the loss of trust in the anti-doping system, HKADC would like to take this opportunity to state the fact about the cases.

Being the testing authority of the captioned event, HKADC has conducted in-competition testing at the event. Laboratory reports indicated that 4 of the athletes being tested have used performance enhancement drugs.

Result management was conducted strictly in according to the Anti-Doping Rules of HKADC which comply with the World Anti-Doping Code (the Code). All relevant parties, including the World Anti-Doping Agency, the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, the Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, the Hong Kong China Bodybuilding and Fitness Association and the concerned athletes, have been promptly notified about the positive tests. As on 6 September 2010, result management of these cases are still ongoing, and all the concerned parties have been kept informed of the progress.

According to the Code, all confirmed anti-doping rule violations should be publicly disclosed. HKADC will continue to comply with the Code and should any of these cases being confirmed after the proper result management process, the names and other details of the doping cases will be published at the HKADC official website.
