2010-12-05

The Seminar on Doping Control in Sports, co-organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), the Hong Kong Anti-Doping Committee (HKADC) and the Federation of Medical Societies of Hong Kong (FMSHK), was successfully held on 5 December 2010 at the Olympic House.

Organizers were honored to have invited a number of overseas and local doping control experts to deliver lectures at the Seminar. This one-day seminar was the first ever anti-doping seminar tailor-made for physicians in Hong Kong. It aims at enhancing the anti-doping knowledge of local physicians so that the chance athletes being prescribed prohibited substances can be minimized. During the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Victor C. F. HUI, GBS, JP, Vice-President of SF&OC, said “We made a history in anti-doping in Hong Kong today, a cross-over between the medical professional and the anti-doping community. Among us are some of the best physicians in town who care about our athletes in Hong Kong and are ready to enrich their knowledge in doping control. Also with us are some of the best experts in the subject of anti-doping who are going to share their valuable experience and knowledge in the next few hours.”

During the seminar, an exhibition booth was also set up to introduce the work of HKADC as well as other useful resources for physicians to the seminar participants.
