Two Bodybuilders Sanctioned for Evading Sample Collection

The Hong Kong Anti-Doping Committee (HKADC) announced today (2 August 2013) that Mr. Wan Wai Ho and Mr. Wong Chi Fai of Hong Kong, China, athletes in the sport of Bodybuilding, both have been imposed a 4-year sanction and a fine of HK$20,000 for an anti-doping rule violation.

The violation occurred during an in-competition doping control on 30 June 2013 where both athletes evaded from sample collection.

In response to HKADC’s assertion of anti-doping rule violation, Mr. Wan and Mr. Wong however chose not to attend the hearing. The Disciplinary Panel had carefully considered the cases and a 4-year sanction was imposed on both athletes due to the aggravated circumstances that they deliberately absconded and evaded sample collection. Mr. Wan and Mr. Wong are ineligible to participate in any capacity with any sport affiliated to the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) or organizations regulated by the World Anti-Doping Code. As a result of the anti-doping rule violation, all competitive results achieved by Mr. Wan and Mr. Wong on and after 30 June 2013 have been automatically removed.

HKADC, under the auspices of the SF&OC, is an independent committee responsible for the anti-doping programme in Hong Kong. HKADC is committed to preserve a doping-free environment for fair play in sport in Hong Kong.
